Mary Ann Borden circa 1836

Correction: There is a typo on the stitch count: It should read 216 wide x 218 high.

Addition: Since release of the chart in March of 2023, interesting additional history has been provided to me by a kind stitcher: Mary Ann Borden is the cousin once removed to Lizzie Borden, also of Fall River, Massachusetts, who was tried and acquitted of the August 4, 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother. She was born in 1860 and died in 1927. Mary Ann was born in 1827 so was 33 years older, and died in 1910. They both would have known each other, were distant relatives and lived in the same small town. Surely Mary Ann’s life was also negatively impacted by the publicity.

Ellen Kingscote’s English Sewing Book: Wisdom Sampler

Correction: the “c” in Kingscote at the bottom of the Wisdom graph was inadvertently left out when charting. A new chart for this portion will be provided to you by emailing Kathleen at stitchantiques@aol.com and appears on my facebook page @crossstitchantiques

In Memory of Louise Chart

Correction: The symbol “4” indicates 100/3 color 611 which apparently is being discontinued. The best match is #427 instead.

Elizabeth Martin Irish Quaker Mountmellick Sampler: NPI 292 is the correct thread for the DMC 2051; NPI 252 is the correct thread for DMC 581; 100/3 silk #335 replaces 2646 for DMC 3777

Alice Clark I Had a Father Kind and True: replace #328 with #718 as the manufacturer has discontinued 328

When House and Land is Gone: #425 has been discontinued. Please use #634 instead.

The Child’s Petition: The “z” symbol shown in the image alongside shouuld be a club symbol instead.

Catherine Armstrong 1856: the words Catharine Armstrong and Age Nine should all be stitched in the spade symbol which is black.

May These Lines a Relic Prove: the “X” symbol should read as follows: DMC #498, AVAS #945, NPI #503, Cosmo: #242

O Sweet Humility: Do not stitch the lower left flower on the blue vase on the right. Due to the weave of the linen on the antique, the verses ending with the words “stage” and “prime” will not fit if you stitch this flower. The basket at the center top should have only diagonal striping, not squares. The right portion of the basket is correctly charted, so when stitching, follow the pattern to the right, ignoring the squaring of the left side of the basket. Also, the same DMC is used for both the “6” and the “spade” symbol as indicated correctly on the thread legend. All 4 symbols should be the Hourglass symbol. Where a $ symbol appears it should be the “6” symbol (on the doors of the red building) and a % symbol (under the hat of the man), it should also be the “6” symbol. All of these are corrected on the PDF version and new print versions. Again, apologies issued!!
