The Child's Petition, 1845 Mary Walsh (of) Aglish, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland Month #11 Antique Sampler of the Month Series

$26.00

A stunning floral border surrounds this religious verse, A Child's Petition, stitched by a young Mary Walsh in 1845. Extensive research and a clue of a similar sampler posted on social media reveals that Aglish is not a last name but a place name in County Kilkenny, Ireland. How did young Mary stitch this sampler in the height of the deadly Potato Famine?
The verse takes on a more meaningful poignance now.
The more one discovers, the more questions are raised. Provenance included.
